Globalnext helps people live better stories. We bring education, truth and global perspectives to US students and those living in Conflict Countries.

This page is a celebration of those who have left their comfort zones, chased what was “next” in their story – and in the process, discovered their “after” – a changed life that spills out onto a broken world.

“The China trip was an experience I find hard to put into words. It shattered expectations, rebuilt better ones, changed my entire mindset, showed me a much larger world outside of my own, opened a world of possibilities, and proved that dreaming big is dreaming normal when there’s a whole big world out there. The experience completely changed my life for the better, through the solidification of friendships, and the real-world that I saw, without any filter. It was an amazing experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything. The entire lesson for this trip was to teach wisdom chasing, and it went so much further than my Christian school education had taught me. Things I had grown up believing, were challenged with the information I learned while taking this course. A whole new world of possibilities was shown to me. I learned so very much and would go back to the trip a thousand times over, but because I can’t, I will go on chasing wisdom in other places.”

“Walking where Jesus walked is a life-changing, surreal experience. Temples and churches are as beautiful as anyone could ever make them, but Jesus was not honored with the elaborate mosaics and magnificent architecture we see today when he was on Earth. The Son of God, the King of Kings came to this Earth as a humble servant ready to serve others and ready to die for us, whether or not He would be praised in the future. The next time I want to complain about something trivial, I will remember that Jesus, the King, endured far worse for my sake.”

“If there was anything I learned from Dr. Johnson on this eye-opening trip besides culture, biblical relics, and prophetic fulfillment in the state of Israel it was this: my life is made from the opportunities that I seize, and more opportunities will become transparent when I shine God’s light through me letting God use my story to bless others being a light unto them.”

“I felt most impacted by my last visit to the Western Wall. When I inserted my prayer and put my hands on the wall to pray, my legs felt like they stiffened up. I felt like God was entering me at that point. I thank Dr. Johnson for being a part in my life.”

“During my time at GlobalNext Israel, I have learned that my story has already been planned. And it is going to be a great story that is part of something even bigger. But my story can not be shown to the world to show the light of Christ without the light of Christ. As Dr.Johnson says, “without the light shining through, the stories are never clear.” I am going to change my thinking, and I will shift the world until I see it how I want to. “

“My name is Alex Pietropaolo and this is my first experience with a Global Next study abroad program. This has been a life changing experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. I have had a fantastic time here in Israel. Thank you for this amazing opportunity.”

“My name is Grace Pukas and I attend a private Christian high school.  I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel to China and France through Global Next. It has been an eye opener to observe two different cultures that made me appreciate how fortunate I am to live in the United States and have the freedoms that Americans take for granted. As captain of the varsity volleyball and softball teams and top percentage of my class academically, Dr. Johnson’s classes have assisted me in becoming a leader through communicating and motivating my teammates and classmates through knowledge of different personalities. I will carry these leadership tools with me throughout my life. Thank you Global Next!”

“My Name is Mohamad Ragaie ElHelaly, currently serving as an International Consultant with Global Next Leadership Institute. It all started more than six years ago when I first attended a Global Next Leadership event in Cairo, Egypt. Listening to Dr. Phil’s telling stories and explaining Global Next’s purpose, vision and mission, just clicked with me and hooked me forever. Since then I have been not only eager to know more about Global Next but to participate and be part of something bigger than myself and things that last for eternity. I have the distinction of being the first intern ever in the history of Global Next and joined Dr. Phil in one of the most important research projects in Alexandria, Egypt; where a terror attack has just taken place on New Year’s day just few weeks before the Egyptian Revolution. Being there, seeing the attack scene and listening to what people said has changed the way I think and view things. In short, Global Next and Dr. Phil are the best two things that ever happened in my life; I can’t help but live through this vision and hope to achieve Dr. Phil’s questions… “What’s better because of me, Who’s better because of me?”

“Global Next conferences have changed me in so many ways. On my first conference, I learned more about my personality type, and why, although it is different, it is not flawed. I also learned how other personalities relate to my own, and why that has sometimes caused problems.  The “Who Let the Dogs Out?” Conference has been an integral part of me becoming comfortable with who I am intrinsically. It helped me realize that I am not in the wrong when others form misconceptions of me because their thoughts fit me to a personality more like their own. Because of this conference I was able to decide (at least for now) to pursue a degree in International Business.  The “Chasing Wisdom” conference taught me exactly what I needed to learn as I prepare to leave my safe little world of high school and dive into a university setting.  I learned how to recognize wise people and that, if I ever found a good one, to latch onto them.  I discovered ways that I fail to be wise, and Dr. Phil gave me tips on how to fix that.  The most important thing I learned at the “Chasing Wisdom” Conference was that I do not choose wise friends. This realization has been difficult, and trying to amend this flaw has been tough. So far it has mostly just been isolating.  But it has been a crucial realization that will hopefully keep me from repeating my mistakes.  Without my experiences with Global Next, I would still be floundering in my difficulties instead of accepting and overcoming obstacles.  Global Next has helped me find the direction I want to go in and to know how to pursue this goal to my best ability.”

“Global Next has given me several opportunities to say “Here I am, Lord! Send me,” just as Isaiah 6:8 reads. Not only can we be lights in our communities, but through our travels we can be Christ-like examples all around the world. Global Next trips encourage growth, reflection, inspiration, and leadership, and I have learned so much from being immersed in countries so unlike my own. I am so blessed to have had the ability to travel with my school and learn more outside of just the classroom. Just leaving high school I have traveled to England, Greece, Poland, and China with Global Next. Each of these trips have left me with a desire to see and serve countries all around the world and have allowed me to create so many memories I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”

“My senior year of high school, I was blessed with the opportunity of experiencing both the England Jumping Your Shadow conference and the Greece Connecting the Dots conference. I learned, through these conferences, the importance of right, Biblical leadership in today’s world and how to adapt to various cultures in while still being an effective influence. Since then, I have been studying art and business at Pensacola Christian College and working over the summer and Christmas breaks. After having been apart of Global Next, I now feel very well prepared to be a Christian leader and face the rest of my life with an appreciation for other cultures.”

“My name is Sherwet and I work for the refugees around the world. After I completed my internship/fellowship program with Global Next in June 2013, I was challenged with how I was going to serve the world and do something greater than the moment. — I was inspired by Dr. Phil’s words “People matter to God and they should matter to us”. – – Through Global Next, I had the chance to serve others who were in need through the humanitarian and charity activities that were held at the orphanage and rehab centers for drug addicts. It opened my eyes on a different view that one person can be a leader and change the world by helping others who are in need. I have never forgot Dr.Phil’s quote “Who’s better because of you , What’s better because of you”, that quote in particularly gives the motivation every day to wake up, serve others and be the reason for their happiness.”

“My experiences with Global Next gave me the opportunity to go out and engage different cultures and worldviews. The lessons I learned persist to this day and are evident in my work as a philosophy professor.”

“Afghanistan is a land of myths and lies – from the education of the youth to corruption to violence to a lack of free speech. Afghanistan is a country where leaders force news reporters to write reports in favor of them. It is a nation where leaders consider leadership nothing more than a heritage they receive from their parents – a country where leaders’ sympathies goes to the side of the terrorist before the side of the victim’s family. Into such a world as this, Global Next stepped in to an academic center in Afghanistan (UMEF) to teach leadership subjects which described the real meaning and real power of leadership. Through this, he inspired the youth generation to a brighter future and to expand all dimensions of who a real leader could be. Being a media worker in an Afghan news network was a dream job. A slogan of my life had always been: “Freedom of Speech.”  But regrettably I found myself in a nightmare of ghosts and terrorist and I quickly became a target for so many terrorist networks, specially the Taliban. The loneliness was crushing until I got a wonderful inspiration from a wonderful subject, leadership management, which was instructed by a wonderful, kind instructor and best leader Dr. Phil Johnson. — This course and information shaped a new life for me and new thoughts for me as how to accept risk and become a successful person in life. And hereafter, I turned a new chapter of life and have had started a very dangerous journey toward success. (Zarkaria successfully immigrated from Afghanistan to Europe at great risk to his life.)

“Being a part of Global Next has shaped the way I view myself, the people around me, the globe at large, and how these things intersect. — I’ve learned the importance of filtering through information to determine what really matters and how to streamline my life so that there is room to say “yes” to those things that truly matter.”

“What has Global Next meant to me? This is a question, the answer to which cannot be summed up in a few lines. I have been a part of Global Next since March 2011. And it has been an ever changing step in my life. Global Next has taught me more than I could have asked for. It gave me a purpose, a hope, a light in a broken and despairing world. It gave a sense of harmony, no matter where we are, Global Next has united us all.”

“I have always wanted to tell you, how much your friendship means to me .How lucky I am to have found your seminar and listened to your advice when you told me that I should come and attend the “Wired for Brilliance” event. Since I have attended your seminar, my life was turned around. I don’t get angry anymore over peoples’ characteristics or personalities. And I have a better ability to contain their actions and try my best to understand them. A lot of beautiful things happened to me since we met, all are great things, all because of the positive energy, and great mentality you have taught me . My father works as a Captain, so he travels a lot. I know how hard is it to leave your family for a period of time to work. Yet, you do that to help other people become the best version of themselves. During your seminar, you told us about a guy whose life was turned around because of a simple hair cut. Your seminars are my “haircut”.”

“Since the 23rd of August 2016, I have been sworn into the United States Marine Corps. Since I have been in the Marine Corps, I was given a leadership position as a squad leader responsible for keeping all the men and women in my squad up to Marine stands, both mentally and physically. After a couple of months in this position the GnSgt. called me into his office to inform me that I was being promoted to the Guide of the recruiting station. Now, I would go from having seven to thirty people working under me!  When the GnSgt. informed me of my promotion to Guide, he told me that I was getting the position because he saw me as a born leader, however I don’t believe people are born a good leader. I see leadership as a position that takes a lot of practice, both hands on experience as a leader and from talking to others who know more about leading than yourself.  One on the greatest examples I can think of for a leader that I have followed and learned a great deal from is Dr. Phil of Global Next. Before being sworn into the Marines, I participated in Global Next’s Personality Profiling Course in Italy: ” Who Let the Dogs Out?” This conference became a very influential part of how I communicate with other people. Dr. Phil helped me to address a few problems I had in order to improve the way I connected with people. Dr. Phil’s course on profiling and communication has directly influenced my ability to lead effectively.  Even if I had not gone on the Global Next trip or met Dr. Phil, as horrible as that would have been, I would have still joined the Marines, However, I seriously doubt that I would be in the position that I am in now. I would not have had the confidence to speak to my recruiter and show him that I was the right choice to be his squad leader,  and I wouldn’t have had the people skills I needed to communicate with the other poolees to show the GnSgt. that I was the best choice to be the Guide for his recruiting office. That is why I am looking forward to going on another Global Next Conference in November –  because I can’t wait to see all the good it will do in my life.”

“Attentive, Bold, and Confident. These three words describe the characteristics of leadership that Global Next taught me over the years. I have learned that being a leader doesn’t always mean taking charge of something, but a true leader is one who is unafraid to take chances, genuinely cares for the community, and desires to empower others to be confident in themselves.  The Global Next Leadership Conferences helped me to understand what true leadership is and gave me eyes to see the world for its history, culture, and unique diversity.  As I am studying to earn my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education, it makes me excited when I am able take my experiences from Global Next into the classroom and share it with my peers. We often discuss the importance of leadership and diversity in the classroom in the terms of education.  After graduation, I plan to work with students with those with special needs in a public education format. It is my hope that one day, I will be able to take that experience and apply it towards my own non-profit business dream I have, that will continue to teach students with special needs important life skills on their way to independence.  I am blessed to have taken part in the Global Next conferences as it has helped me grow, as an individual, in my education and career path.”

“Dr. Johnson – I have some exciting news that I wanted to share with you before it goes public…I passed my comprehensive exams! I am officially ABD and in candidacy. I have my first meeting with my dissertation chair this week and get to start preparing my proposal after that. I’m really excited about entering this new phase of my studies and wanted you to be among the first to know since you were one of the main influences in my deciding to pursue a doctorate. I wouldn’t be doing what I am if it weren’t for you and Global Next–I’m sure of it.”

“Global Next has continually fulfilled its purpose and vision every Leadership Conference I have attended with Dr. Phil Johnson. I have gained a greater appreciation for understanding the world in context and how to become a strong Christian leader in a unique and changing world. My most recent trip to China brought great clarity for me. As I study to attain my bachelor’s degree in finance and business administration, I recognized that I can be a leader in the business world while fulfilling my ultimate purpose as a Christ follower—and that purpose is to bring honor and glory to God no matter what my career or circumstance may be. This trip was a real game changer to my life and faith!”

“During my work with GlobalNext I have learned the importance of each individual in helping others and the impact it leaves on their path to come in life. I feel an invaluable joy and happiness when I see changes happen in the lives of our participants. GlobalNext taught me that we have responsibilities toward ourselves and others. We are responsible to help people live better stories.”

“Going on Global Next trips has been some of the most memorable and important events of my life. Not only is meeting Dr. Phil Johnson the fun part but getting to spend a week under his tutelage learning to think about the world and its events critically is a paramount experience to have. The best part is what you take away from it, and I’m sure it’s different for everyone. You can enjoy the history aspect of it, you can enjoy learning of a new culture, but even if none of those appeal to you there’s still the leadership side. That was my big “take away”, learning to be less shy, as well as, the values and what it takes to be a leader.”

“My subconscious determination to be mediocre in high school was so distasteful to my inner being that God provided me an escape route through an opportunity that would unknowingly change my life forever. Dr. Phil is a living example of how opening yourself up to the uncomfortable, and surrendering yourself fully to God, can change the world. Ephesians 3:20 talks about the “power that works in us.” The power that is able to do exceedingly above all we think or ask of God. Global Next showed me how to be brave enough to open myself up to that power that works in us and ask big things of God. When we ask God to use us to change the world and open our hearts to do so, we become mediators in his divine moments. This is when things I never imagined possible started happening. Such as, a new passion for leadership, a realization of the personal growth taking place from within, and an understanding of purpose.”
